Balloërveld

Our hike from last Sunday went through the Balloërveld, a nature area in the province of Drenthe with heather fields and shifting-sand.

It's a popular area for hiking and also for cyclists who ride an ATB. I read on Wikipedia that in the 20th century the Dutch Defense Ministry managed the area for a period of time and used it for army trainings.

  1. Have to have some pretty thick bicycle tires to manage that terrain.

  2. En ik was de sukkel die er doorheen moest kruipen in 1966. Nou dan bekijk je de natuur toch op een heel andere wijze.

  4. Your sky in the first shot looks just like my sky Marleen, so beautifully blue, my temperature was 29C what was yours? I can see how this terrain would be perfect for army training!

  5. Love that blue, blue sky! I doubt that anything but very sturdy mountain bikes would be able to traverse this terrain!
