Wooden Shoes Museum

This is the colourful facade of the 'Internationaal Klompenmuseum' (International Wooden Shoes Museum) in de village of Eelde, that we passed during one of our recent hikes. According to their website their collection includes more than 2,200 pairs of different clogs and other footwear with wooden soles from 43 countries, and hundreds of tools from 7 European countries. We took this photo on a Sunday morning when the museum was (still) closed, so a visit will have to wait until another time.

I'm linking to Monday Murals.

  2. That is a museum I would like to visit. It was not too long ago that I visited "our" Bata Shoe Museum. It was much more interesting than I originally thought. I saw the famous platforms worn by Elton John in the 70s and John Lennon's original 1960s Beatle boot. : ))

  5. Wooden shoes, dat klink veel deftiger als klomp en het verdient een mooie naam omdat het vakwerk is om ze te maken.

  14. Who would have thought that there'd be a museum dedicated to clogs? I did once visit a museum which was all about pencils (!) and that was actually a lot more interesting than I expected.
