Concentrating on Art Nouveau during a city walk in Groningen last summer, we passed this remarkable building on the corner of the Gedempte Zuiderdiep and Eerste Drift. From 1903 until 1997 this used to be the office of the former regional newspaper 'Nieuwsblad van het Noorden' (Newspaper of the North), owned by press agency Hazewinkel Pers. Nowadays the newspaper is named 'Dagblad van het Noorden' (Daily North). The building's design is by architect Gerrit Nijhuis.
It has a large leaded window in the centre, as seen from the outside..

What a stunning building this is! The use of glass and tile is fantastic. I just love this.
