Land of language

On and around the Oldehoofsterkerkhof in Leeuwarden is the international Lân fan taal (Frisian for 'Land of language') project this year. The programma shows you how limitless our language is, and you can learn, experience and feel the importance and diversity of language. The text on the wall says 'Language is everything, everything is language', or: 'taal is alles, alles is taal' in Dutch.

have a look and surprise yourself

how the past could hold it's ground.

In Dutch:

   Welkom in ons kleine dorp

poort naar het mooie Westerwolde

kijk maar rond en verbaas jezelf

hoe het verleden stand kon houden.

Wedde is a small town in the Westerwolde region in the province Groningen.

Following up on the previous posts these are 2 more photo's from last Sunday's Midwinter horn stroll, showing 2 banners in local dialect that say it all. First: 'Mooi da'j d'r bint' which means 'It's wonderful that you're here',

and near the end: 'Onmeunig mooi da'j der wann' means 'It was really great that you were here'.
