New blackberries

During our hike yesterday we were surprised to see so many blackberry bushes carrying new, though still red and unripe, fruit. August is our "blackberry month" and I guess because September in the Netherlands has been so unusually warm, dry and sunny, new blackberries have grown. Autumn seems hesitant to arrive..

Hot day

 We had another hot day today with blazing sun, apparently the hottest 13th of September in Dutch history: about 32°C (89,6°F)!!  I wish I´d been at the beach today and cool my feet in the seawater, but that wasn´t the case :)

September sunset

Even though we are still enjoying some sunny and warm days, it´s obvious that the end of the Summer is near. The days are shortening, the light changes, the first leaves are colouring, and -for my Dutch visitors- : the "pepernoten" and "speculaas" have been for sale in the supermarkets for weeks already ;))..

Leeuwarden canals

Walking around the old city centre of Leeuwarden means crossing a number of canals ..

.. and I can´t remember seeing a single bridge without these abundantly blooming petunias! Just lovely.

The soap bubble guy

Summer in Stockholm, Sweden: This guy was entertaining people in the Kungsträdgården (King's Garden) by blowing soap bubbles.

Summer evening

Back from work, it´s great to make a (short) cycling trip in the early Summer evening .. There are many cycling paths in our region like this one.
