MusSAILkanaal
Over a hundred cargo-vessels came to Musselkanaal this weekend for 'MusSAILkanaal'. With this event the village in the south of the province of Groningen celebrated 250 years 'Stadskanaal' (by which is meant the actual canal -'Cities Canal'-, not the town Stadskanaal nearby) as well as 400 years 'Semslinie'.
The Semslinie is a part of the border between the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe that runs from Wolfsbarge to Musselkanaal, right through the former Bourtanger Moor.
Both pictures are from yesterday evening. We were very lucky to have such beautiful Summer weather!

Road sign
A creative prohibitory road sign seen in the village of Musselkanaal. It's not an official sign obviously, but apparently it is allowed as it has been there for years.

Winter walk
This photo was taken during a walk near the village of Musselkanaal. As you can see it was a sunny, though windy and cold winter day.

Winter view
It was sunny but cold when I took this photo during a winter walk. It's a view with the village of Musselkanaal in the distance.

Easter Monday means it's time for the annual 'Klap to Klap run' (Klap tot Klap loop) in my town! The start is at the IJzeren Klap (Iron Klap) in Musselkanaal, with the finish after 10 km at the Gele Klap (Yellow Klap) in Stadskanaal. You must know that in the province Groningen 'klap' is an old word for draw bridge, we then also know the word 'klapbrug' in Dutch.
Both pictures were taken near the finish. On the top photo you see the winner (Kiptoo), on the photo below no.2 (Cheruiyot), both are from Kenya. I respect their efforts!
