Another exibited item at Paleis Het Loo was this Silver Sleigh, constructed in 1885.
"The Silver Sleigh was mainly used by Queen Wilhelmina for trips through Het Loo Royal Estate, often accompanied by het mother Queen Emma. She generally took the reins herself. The coachman sat on the driving seat at the rear; he operated the ice-scrapers..
..The metal runners converge in the front into crowned griffin heads. The mesh metal screen protected the passengers from any snow flying up around them. The upholstery was made of hand-woven rugs. A fur throw kept the passengers warm." (info from Paleis Het Loo)
This last photo, that was placed next to the sleigh, was taken during a rare demonstration of the Royal Stables Department around Het Loo in 2009.

Austin 135 Sheerline Princess II
In the coach-houses belonging to Het Loo Palace, a number of royal carriages, cars and sleighs was presented, and all of them treasures!
"This luxurious and representative court car was made at the orders of the royal family. The Austin Sheerline is a composite car: chassis and engine are from the British Austin factory, the body-work was built by Pennock & Son in The Hague. Construction date is 1950-1952.
The "waving car" was frequently used for official visits. In 1955, the Austin Sheerline was used for the visit of Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard to the Dutch Antilles. Three years later it was used again, this time for the visit of Princess Beatrix to Surinam." (info from Paleis Het Loo)

Norwegian mail delivery
During our stay in Nordseter we visited Maihaugen open-air museum in Lillehammer, that was also the location of the Norwegian Postal Museum which had an interesting exhibition. Outside we found this 1200cc Harley Davidson dating from 1932. Isn't it a beauty?
And how about this charming car named "Tjorven". It was built in 1972 in Sweden to be used both in Sweden and Norway for the delivery of mail outside towns. Note that the steering wheel is on the right, this way the postman didn't have to get out of the car to put letters into a mailbox. The car was built on a DAF 44 chassis.

Eyelashes
This car was parked near our appartment in De Koog (Texel). Not totally unique, but it still brought a smile on my face :)
I blurred the licence plate for privacy reasons..

Mobile home
There's lots of creativity around that is worth noticing. We spotted this very personal "mobile home" at Herrfallet Stugby & Camping in Arboga - Sweden.

Paper Art: the Harley
The details were impressive! The bike was created by British sculptor Chris Gilmour (1973).

A motorised hot dog?
I am not used to bring my camera when I go shopping for groceries, but maybe I should! This funny van disguised as a sausage was parked in front of our local supermarket today. Luckily I had my cell phone with me to take a photo :)
The Dutch 'knaks' or 'knakworst' are similar to hot dogs. At first I mistook the van for a food truck but it was a slide instead. The kids were happy with it!

SLOW
Different from the Netherlands where you will see a traffic light when one lane is closed due to roadwork, in the U.S. it is often a man or a woman holding a sign saying SLOW (or STOP on the other side). This can't be an easy job to stand there, and it's not without responsibility either. I hope they are paid well for what they do.
The photo was taken in Yellowstone National Park, last month.

Creative (2)
Between the many many mobile-homes that we saw in the U.S. this one really stood out. The wooden top seemed to fit perfectly and was treated so well that it felt smooth.
And the entrance was at the back. We would have loved to have a peek inside, but the owner wasn't there when we were. We spotted this van near the car with the tree-trunk bumper, in the Rocky Mountains Nat. Park. (Colorado)

Creative (1)
Did the owner lose or damage a lot of bumpers and then decided to go for a tree-trunk? Or does he/she just like it?
Anyway, it seems creative. We spotted the car on the parking-lot of one of the visitor centers in Rocky Mountains National Park, about 2 hours (by car) north of Denver.

Oldtimers..
Two pictures from last Spring, when I went on a cycling trip and stopped to take pictures when these oldtimers passed me near the small village of Ter Maarsch..
I'm sure they got a lot of (well deserved) attention wherever they went!

Chevy
Even though this Chevrolet pickup has an unattractive rust colour and has some dents here and there, it is a vehicle you don't see every day! I noticed it standing in front of our house a few days ago, with the driver trying all he could for a long while before he went on his way again.
And what do you do when you know less than nothing at all about cars? Yes, stay inside and take a photo..
Note the two 'outdoor' seats in the back!

Alberta, Canada (2012)
The Athabasca Glacier is located along the 230 km (140 miles) long 'Icefields Parkway', a beautiful scenic route through the Canadian Rocky Mountains that we drove from Banff to Jasper. A snow coach with giant wheels brought us from the Icefield Centre onto the glacier, where we got out to have a look around and take photographs. It's a very tourist-thing to do, but a nice experience!

Harz - Germany (1995)
When searching for a photo for today I found this one from nearly 20 years ago, taken during a trip we made by motorbike in the Harz in Germany. This food truck (most likely a former army field kitchen) called 'KUKKI'S' was on a parking place, serving 'Erbsensuppe mit Bockwurst': pea soup with German sausage.

Can't remember if the food was good, but I'm sure it tasted great :)
