Arriving in the centre of Zwolle by a nice path along the 'Stadsgracht' (City Canal). And turning right..

..onto a bridge called 'Nieuwe Havenbrug'. Note that it is still decorated with colourful flowers on the lamp posts, even though we're pretty far in October!

The island of Schiermonnikoog has one village, also named Schiermonnikoog.

View on the Groninger Museum

As soon as you leave Groningen Central Station there is this view on the colourful buildings of the Groninger Museum.

The museum consists of 3 main pavillions, all modernist structures. The eye-catching yellow tower was designed by Alessandro Mendini, an Italian architect.

Zandeweer main street

The Hoofdstraat (Main Street) in the village of Zandeweer. It's Sunday and quiet. We are walking towards the Middle Aged church that you see in the background.

Wernigerode

During our stay in the Harz region in Germany we visited the old city centre of Wernigerode, a wonderful place.

With its many colourful and half-timbered buildings it has the nickname "Bunte Stadt am Harz", which is German for "Colourful city in the Harz"

I noticed the estate agency ('makelaardij' in Dutch) on the corner had a nice sign. And yes that must be Christmas lights still hanging there..;)   (photo taken last Saturday)

Rolde village square

Rolde is a lively village near Assen in the Dutch province of Drenthe. and has about 4,000 inhabitants. In the background is the Jacobus Church.

This is road N976 leading away from Jipsinghuizen. Our hike followed the bicycle path for a while.

The shopping streets in the centre of Meppel are car-free. In the background is the Maria Church, a reformed church dating from the 15th century.
