"Lekker lezen doe je in de trein" ("Comfortably reading in the train") is a campaign of the Dutch Railways (NS) with which they hope to encourage and inspire travelers to read in the train. Train travel and reading just go hand-in-hand, they say, and I think that's very true! They are also known to support a number of important and well-known Dutch reading and literacy campaigns.
This was the train that took us from The Hague to Zwolle, Saturday a few weeks ago.
Near the doors of the train part of a page of several books were displayed, like here from Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert.
I´m not sure though if this would be the book I´d choose to read in the train, a thriller or detective is more my thing.. How about you?
I think the railway has a interesting concept to encourage reading. I had to Google search Madame Bovary. Sounds like an interesting book to read on a train or any other place. What can I say... I'm a guy. ;)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenLeuke trein, ziet er vrolijk uit. Madame Bovary zou ik wel lezen maar ik ken het al van lang geleden.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenReading is fundamental.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThis is a wonderful concept. I too prefer a thriller or detective book!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt's hard to imagine anyone not taking advantage of a train ride to read Marleen, or the hairdresser's, waiting for the doctor, dentist etc ๐๐

BeantwoordenVerwijderenI love reading on the train! If I don't have a real book, I have plenty on my phone. :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWell done to the Dutch Railroad. Such a lovely idea.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenQuite a colourful train. I do like reading on the train, where I'm able to. I can't read in a car or a bus... to this day I still get carsick if I try that.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI remember trying to read a newspaper on my last train ride. But I got too distracted to give it too much attention.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI don't know if I could read on a train, but I wouldn't mind trying. I don't get too many opportunities for train travel anymore.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenInteresting .... Reading is an important (and so many young people are no longer able to or do not want to read the books or any paper). Today, "everybody" just staring at their mobil and other gadgets. Your trains are going to the right way.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenMost definitely! Trains are my favourite mode of transport for that very reason. And a good mystery novel is perfect.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIk ga meer voor fantasy de laatste tijd. Heel geschikt voor het openbare vervoer.
