We don't live near the coast and it was (only) force 7 here, but at the North Sea coast people had to deal with force 9 or 10 and dangerous conditions like heavy wind gusts.
And it rained a lot as well. This photo was taken through an upstairs window towards the line of trees at the back of our garden.
I´m linking to Skywatch Friday.

Ja wij hadden 10 in Almere.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHet waaide hier nog wat harder inderdaad. Ja die Doris, hoe komen ze aan zo'n naam, een storm is gewoon een storm he :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou made the best of a rainy by grabbing your camera and taking some outstanding photos.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI heard about Doris on the news tonight Marleen, I think you were pretty lucky to only get a touch of her power, looked so scary! We always give our cyclones here in Australia names too ☺
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWow, that's fierce. But a good picture.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDoris is a nice name, but I'm glad I didn't meet her.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI like your 2nd photo, Marleen !
...I hope that you weather the storm.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenVery artsy, Marleen; especially the 2nd shot. I hate storms and I hate wind, so I would not have been happy when Doris came through if I'd lived in your area!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat's definitely the kind of weather you stay inside for.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenVery creative photos Marleen. Doris visited us too with lots of wind, rain and hale.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI wonder what wind speeds were recorded.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenOh yes it was terrible here ! Roofs blew away and it was hard to drive. Fortunately in Waterloo where I live it there were only few damages ! Yes I also learned that the storm was called Doris in the UK !
