The swan with spread wings on the exterior wall of the Lutheran Church community centre in Utrecht symbolises Luther and the Lutheran Church, while the date refers to the month and year in which the centre in the
Hamburgerstraat was built. The tile tableau on the photo was made by the local Westraven tile factory.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenI've never heard of such a symbol for Luther. Although swans can be rather mean, as was Luther. Just read his terrible book on the Jews! (BTW, I have intimate knowledge and experience of the Lutheran church in the U.S.) :)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat is pretty!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeautiful symbol.

BeantwoordenVerwijderenbij mijn weten hebben we geen lutherse kerken bij ons

BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat is well done and impressive, I like it!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI'm so glad these wall reliefs have been preserved.
