Schoonebeek Heath Sheep

We passed this flock of sheep in a field near the village of Orvelte. Their long and woolly tails are typical for the 'Schoonebeeker heideschaap' or 'Schoonebeek Heath Sheep', a Dutch domestic breed. They are strong though gentle, often mottled and with black spots on the head.

Howdy!

I'm linking to Saturday's Critters.

  4. I like them. And noticed the mottled stuff on their legs, too. I've never had much to do with sheep but they seem rather placid and, if not friendly, certainly not hostile.

  5. They look like characters. I've not heard of that breed here.

  6. Sheep are always fun to see. My wife uses their wool to make hats, scarfs, shawls, you name it, she makes it. :)
